BSCIC to supervise stimulus package disbursement among SMEs
It issued an order on July 15, appointing six of its directors to supervise the incentives distribution
The prime minister has announced a Tk20,000 crore incentives package to support the entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) – to keep the wheel of the country's economy moving.
The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) will provide necessary assistance in implementing the loan disbursement activities, according to a press release.
BSCIC issued an order on July 15, appointing six of its directors to supervise the incentives distribution in specific districts, it adds.
Dr Md Abdus Salam, director (Technology and Skills) will supervise the activities in the: Rajshahi, Pabna, Natore, Chapainawabganj, Kushtia, Meherpur, Chuadanga, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Narail, and Magura districts.
Swapan Kumar Ghosh, director (Finance), has been assigned to supervise the activities in the: Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, and Dhaka districts.
Director (Industrial Development and Extension) Md Khalilur Rahman will supervise in the: Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Joypurhat, Naogaon, and Bogura districts.
Md Alamgir Hossain, director (Marketing, Design and Crafts) will supervise in the: Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Patuakhali, Barguna, Barishal, Pirojpur, Jhalokati, Gopalganj, Madaripur, and Shariatpur districts.
Golam Md Faruk, director (Planning and Research) will supervise activities in the: Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Tangail, Sirajganj, Manikganj, Gazipur, Faridpur, and Rajbari districts.
And Director (Engineering and Project Implementation) Mohammad Ataur Rahman Siddique will supervise the loan activities in the: Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban, Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, and Bhola districts.
In order to implement the stimulus package for the CSME sector, with the approval of the Cabinet Division, SME loan disbursement committees have been formed in each district at the initiative of the Ministry of Industries, adds the press release.
The officials assigned from the BSCIC will also provide the necessary assistance in implementing the decisions of the SME loan disbursement monitoring committee of the concerned districts.
BSCIC Chairman Md Mostaque Hassan, NDC, said that they had formed committees in 42 districts to distribute SME loans and held several meetings in this regard.
Meetings in the other districts will be arranged soon, he added.
"The loan recovery rate for small, micro, cottage and mid-level industries will be 99 percent," added the BSCIC chairman.
