Stocks open higher amid soaring turnover
The indices displayed cheerful movements as investors continue to buy fresh stocks at lucrative prices
Indices of the country's two main bourses posted high gains with surging turnover as investors kept on buying fresh stocks at lucrative prices.
Turnover, one of the important indicators of the market, soared by 43 percent to Tk550.29 crore at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor.
According to a top brokerage firm's review, "The indices displayed cheerful movements as investors continue to buy fresh stocks at lucrative prices, expecting capital gains amid the upward momentum with optimism towards the market."
After the first one-and-half hours of trading, Dhaka Stock Exchange's key index (DSEX) went up by 91.24 points, and the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of the port city's bourse increased 241 points to stand at 13,406.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, increased 1.96 percent to stand at 4,724 points till the report was filed at 11.30 am.
Moreover, the blue-chip index DS30 rose by 23 points to reach at 1,604, and the Shariah-based DSES index gained 6.22 points to stand at 1,094.
Today at DSE, a total of 354 issues were traded in the corresponding period, where 210 advanced, 102 declined and 42 remained unchanged.
