Bangabandhu’s close companion Azizur Rahman dies of Covid-19
He was a freedom fighter and close companion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
Moulvibazar Jila Parishad Chairman Azizur Rahman has died of the Covid-19 infection early today.
He was a freedom fighter and close companion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"He breathed his last at around 2:30 am at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka," Sajib Hasan, information and research secretary of Moulvibazar District Awami League and deceased's nephew said.
He was air lifted to Dhaka as per the instructions of the Prime Minister and was admitted to BSMMU.
In his colorful political life, he was elected as a member of the parliament for few times. He was former whip of the National Parliament.
Azizur Rahman received Independence Day Awards 2020 for his outstanding contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Azizur Rahman was the joint general secretary of Awami League's Central Working Committee. He played important roles including Moulvibazar District Awami League's president and district coordinator of 14-party alliance. He also signed in the constitution of Bangladesh.
