Stocks witness modest gain at opening

Equity indices of the country's two major bourses reported moderate gains in the early hours of the trading session on Thursday, as the investors pursued their buying appetite in listed stocks with return potential.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, increased by 28.39 points – or 0.58 percent - to reach at 4,855 till 11:30am.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index gained 6.56 points to settle at 1,132 and the blue-chip index DS30 rose by 9.69 points to stand at 1,688.
Turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor also leaped by 14 percent to Tk365.25 crore in the first one-and-half-hour amid the floor price limitation.
Out of the 356 issues traded during the same time frame, 197 company's share prices advanced, 102 declined, and 57 remained unchanged.
In the corresponding period, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) advanced 73.31 points to close at 13,799.
