Equity benchmark indices of the stock exchanges witnessed a big jump in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Monday amid slipping turnover.

Moreover, the Shariah-based index DSES gained 12.56 points to settle at 1,134 and the blue-chip index DS30 increased 25.56 points to stand at 1,716.
Turnover, an important indicator of the market, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor fell 4% to Tk329.35 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 352 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 226 gainers against 90 losers, while prices of 36 scrips remained unchanged
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 144 points to close at 14,330 till 11:30 am today.
Of the total 212 issues traded till then,119 gained, 63 declined, and 30 issues remained unchanged with Tk89 million in turnover.
