Bourses slip at session opening

Equity benchmark indices of the stock exchanges witnessed a negative trend amid investors selling pressure in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Wednesday.
DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined 2.48 points - to reach at 4,979 till 11:00 am.
Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index lost 3.25 points to settle at 1,122 and the blue-chip index DS30 decreased 1.56 points to stand at 1,703.
However, turnover on the DSE trading floor increased by 6% to Tk333.48 in the corresponding period.
Out of the 349 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 148 gainers against 121 losers, while prices of 80 scrips remained unchanged.
Paramount Textile Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk425 million changing hands, closely followed by Sandhani Life Insurance Company Limited, Asia Pacific General Insurance Company Limited, Nitol Insurance Company Limited, Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited, and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) slipped 39.95 points to close at 14,221 till 11:30 am today.
Of the total 204 issues traded till then, 68 gained, 106 declined, and 30 issues remained unchanged with Tk91 million in turnover.
