In the US the first confirmed Covid-19 case arrived on January 21. By that time, the world was aware of a novel coronavirus which invaded throughout China and now making its route onto the global territory.
On June 30, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared coronavirus as a "global health emergency". On the same day, Trump assured coronavirus being under control during a manufacturing plant visit in Michigan.
He maintained this neglected position towards the epidemic for the next two months despite US different health organisations declaring this as a national emergency. On February 26, Trump appointed Vice-President Mike Pence as the head of the coronavirus briefing taskforce whereas the protocol is always to be someone in the front who has the expertise and technical understanding of the situation.
"We're going to be pretty soon at only 5 people, and we could be at just 1 or 2 people over the next short period of time" — Trump said on US coronavirus cases on February 26 when that time the country had 10,000 cases and on the verge of spreading like a wildfire.
On February 28 Trump referred to the coronavirus as the Democrats' "new hoax" and it will disappear like a "miracle".
On March 9, Trump compared the coronavirus to the common flu, a comparison which at that time had already been debunked by experts including CDC Director Dr Anthony Fauci.
Trump finally declares a national emergency in response to the coronavirus on March 13, according to the sources Trump was "shook" seeing Tom Hanks being infected and cancelation of the upcoming NBA seasons.
On March 20, Trump boastfully suggested hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug to be "highly effective" at the White House Coronavirus Task Force daily briefing; which previously was unproven as a Covid-19 treatment by the FDA,
On March 24, Trump announces the upcoming Easter as the reopening day of the US. That time, the total death toll of the US was 962 along with total 58,023 cases.
Just five days later, Trump drastically changed his position of comparing coronavirus to the flu, saying the it is "vicious".
Trump announced plans to halt funding to the WHO on April 14, accusing the organisation of "severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus," just the day after US was hit with 25,000 reported Covid-19 deaths.
May 9, when many states were yet to meet the minimum requirements for reopening based on the White House's guidelines, Trump continued to push for the reopening of nonessential businesses, tweeting the slogan "TRANSITION TO GREATNESS!"
On May 22, Trump announced to reopen the churches, citing them as "essential".
And at the end of that month, US death toll hit 100,000.
On Sept 29, at the first presidential debate of 2020, after producing a mask from his pocket: "I wear masks when needed. When needed, I wear masks." Ridiculing Democratic rival Joe Biden for wearing them regularly, he said: "I don't wear masks like him. Every time you see him, he's got a mask. He could be speaking 200 feet away from them and he shows up with the biggest mask I've ever seen."
At the same event, when he was asked whether he was worried about the disease spreading at his rallies: "Well, so far we have had no problem whatsoever. It's outside - that's a big difference according to the experts. And we do them outside, we have tremendous crowds, as you see.... We had no negative, no negative effect. We've had no negative effect, and we've had, 35 40,000, people at some of these rallies."
As the world has fought and started to adapt to the pandemic with adequate adaption measures, the US is still witnessing a great number of Covid-19 positive and death numbers. Trump has shifted his focus now from the coronavirus moving onto the US election 2020. But the country is far from over fighting with the pandemic. Health, disaster communications, and even the US media are reiterating, again and again, such high amount of death toll, infection numbers and the great amount of financial and emotional struggle - all could have been avoided if just Donald Trump had acted like a competent President at the time of crisis.
And now, as of today, Donald John Trump the 45th President of the United States of America has been identified Covid-19 positive, along with his wife Melania Trump. In the end, his ignorance, mockery, continuously understating the facts, and preaching people the wrong messages - probably are going cost him a great deal too.
