PM sends Durga Puja gifts to Mamata
The PM's gift items were sent to India through Benapole check post on Sunday
On the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent presents to the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The PM's gift items were sent to India through the Benapole check post on Sunday. Deputy High Commissioner of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata, Tawfiq Hasan, then handed the gift over to the West Bengal chief minister's office 'Nabanna'.
Mostafizur Rahman Rubel, a C&F representative in Benapole, said he took the gifts from Benapole check post around noon and delivered them to Petrapole check post on the other side.
Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration check post, said: "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's gifts were sent to Benapole through Ataur Rahman, chief protocol officer of the Prime Minister's Office. Alam Hossain, an assistant to the first secretary of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, was already in Petrapole to receive it."
BM Jamal Hossain, deputy commissioner (political) of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, told local reporters that the gifts sent by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Kolkata in the evening and were delivered to the West Bengal chief minister's office.
