DSCC evicts illegal kitchen markets from Motijheel, Jatrabari
During the drive, at least 20 illegal shops have been evicted from the footpath near Motijheel Ideal School and some others from the wholesale kitchen market of Jatrabari, said the executive magistrate.
A mobile court of the Dhaka South City Corporation has evicted kitchen markets that were running illegally in Jatrabari and Motijheel areas of the capital city.
The court also sentenced two men to different terms as they obstructed the authorities in discharging duties and violated government order.
Executive magistrate, Irfan Uddin Ahmed conducted the mobile court on Monday as part of regular eviction drive of the city corporation.
During the drive, at least 20 illegal shops have been evicted from the footpath near Motijheel Ideal School and some others from the wholesale kitchen market of Jatrabari, said the executive magistrate.
The court jailed Md Mintu and Md Atique for respectively four and five days. Another, Md Habib, was sued and fined Tk2000 for setting up kitchen market on footpath in Motijheel area.
Later, all illegal shops in the ground floor of the Jatrabari wholesale kitchen market were evicted and the furniture were auctioned.
The executive magistrate said they will conduct another drive there to remove the rest other illegals shops on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the city corporation conducted another mobile court in Sanar Par area of Demra as part of as part of its regular mosquito control campaign.
DSCC Executive Magistrate, Ferdous Wahid said seven establishments suitable for mosquito breeding have been warned so that they take step to improve the situation quickly.
