Biden's win a blessing for world: FM
Dr Momen said the government will be able to work with the Biden administration in four key areas broadly - climate change, migration, trade and investment
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday described US President-elect Joe Biden's win as a blessing for the world with a hope that there will be no deviation from the world peace suddenly.
"We worked with him (Biden) in the past. He has 50 years of political career and he is a mature politician. His win is a blessing for the world," he told reporters at "Meet the Reporters" programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
Dr Momen said the government will be able to work with the Biden administration in four key areas broadly - climate change, migration, trade and investment.
The Foreign Minister said the government will continue to work on repatriation of Bangabandhu's killer Rashed Chowdhury.
He said Bangladesh provided the relevant information to the US Attorney General and hoped that there will be a decision.
Earlier, he said the US should not be the home for murderers.
The US has assured Bangladesh of extending cooperation in repatriating Rashed Chowdhury living in the USA.
Dr Momen said the government appointed a lawyer in Canada to get back another killer Noor Chowdhury.
"I suggested the expatriates to go for a signature campaign," he said adding that Canada should not be hub of murderers.
Dr Momen hoped that Bangladeshi will be benefited under the new US administration.
He also said the US will raise stronger voice on Rohingya issue due to gross violations of human rights in Myanmar.
Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) President Rafiqul Islam Azad and General Secretary Reaz Chowdhury also spoke at the "Meet the Reporters" programme held at Nasrul Hamid auditorium of the DRU.
