Covid-19 cases cross 2,500 mark in 90 days
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,644 and the number of coronavirus cases stands at 464,932

Bangladesh today reported 2,525 new coronavirus cases which is the highest in the last 90 days' records. Besides, 35 more deaths were recorded during the 24-hr time span ending at Monday 8am.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,644, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the meantime, 2,525 people tested positive for Covid-19. The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 464,932.
The latest day's infection rate was 16.43 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 16.77 percent. The death rate stands at 1.43 percent.
2,539 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 380,711 with an 81.89 percent recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 24 were men and 11 were women. All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 25 of them hailed from Dhaka, one each from Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions and Four from Rajshahi and two from Khulna.
Meanwhile, 15,372 samples were tested in 114 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,772,701 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 5,099 of the total deceased were men and 1,545 were women.
1,028 people have been placed in quarantine in the last 24 hours. Now, 40,522 people are in quarantine across the country, reads the press release.
229 Covid-19 suspected patients were taken into isolation and 196 left in last 24 hours. Now, 12,866 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
The world has entered in the eleventh month of the pandemic. At the time of writing, the virus has infected more than 63,126,674 people and close to 1,466,049 people died.
