IGP urges SPs to be 'role models'
Police have to work for the country’s people as change makers, said IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bangladesh Benazir Ahmed BPM (Bar) has urged Superintendents (SPs) of Police to be role models and work as change makers.
He made the remarks at a briefing for newly-appointed police superintendents in 13 districts at the conference room of police headquarters on Sunday evening.
"SPs need to be role models. The dignity and respect of Bangladesh Police must be enhanced. We have to work for the people and the country as change makers" said Benazir.

The IGP further said brutality does not have any place, rather police should treat people well and listen to their problems.
He said bit policing activities have already been launched across the country.
"Effective bit policing needs to be implemented so that the police have detailed information about the law and order situation, criminals, crime trends in respective areas," said the Police Chief.
He said the overall welfare of the force must be ensured. Besides, they have to keep an eye on discipline. Welfare and discipline cannot be mixed up, said the IGP.
Additional IG (Administration & Operations) Bangladesh Police Dr Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury spoke on the occasion and various senior officials were present at the time.
The 13 districts are--Kurigram, Rangamati, Magura, Gazipur, Sherpur, Thakurgaon, Pabna, Barguna, Rajbari, Moulvibazar, Comilla, Gopalganj where new police superintendents have been appointed.
