Popular Actor Abdul Kader doing better than before
He is currently receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital
Zahida Islam, daughter-in-law of popular television actor Abdul Kader, has said the actor is feeling a little better compared to his previous condition.
She stated this to The Business Standard (TBS) on Monday afternoon around 4:30pm and added that he is being fed soup through a tube.
The admired actor Abdul Kader, well-known for playing iconic comedy characters, has been suffering from cancer and returned home on Sunday around 6:50pm from an Indian hospital in Chennai. Afterward, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital.
On 6 December, Abdul Kader was taken to Christian Medical College Hospital in Chennai after falling seriously ill as a tumor was detected after a computerised tomography scan of his entire body. He was taken to different hospitals in Dhaka before being taken to India.
Family members decided to take him to an Indian hospital for advanced treatment soon after getting reports of a tumor. The authorities of Christian Medical Hospital informed them Kader has cancer and it has spread to different organs of his body; as per the test reports on 15 December.
Zahida Islam told TBS Kader is now undergoing treatment in Dhaka as per the advice of the doctors of the Indian hospital.
"Some more tests need to be taken and the process has been underway since the morning. His condition will be known after getting the reports of these tests. He was taken home back from India as his condition was not one for receiving chemotherapy," she added.
Abdul Kader became a popular face among television viewers, after playing the most talked-about character in the drama serial "Kothao Keu Nei" and the movie "Wrong Number."
Abdul Kader was born in Sonarang village in Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj district. He started his acting career by playing the role of Amal in a drama "Dakghar" written by Rabindranath Tagore.
He also served as the drama secretary of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall Student's Association at Dhaka University. He started acting in television dramas in 1972.
Besides acting, Abdul Kader also worked for Bata Shoes for many years in the eighties.
