Barapukuria coal theft: 3 sent to jail, 20 get bail
20 other accused in the case surrendered before the court in the morning.
A Dinajpur court today sent three officers, including the former managing director of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Limited, to jail in a case filed over theft of the mine's coal worth Tk243.28 crore.
Dinajpur District and Sessions Judge Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan also granted bail to 20 other accused in the case when they surrendered before the court in the morning.
The arrestees are former managing director Habib Uddin Ahmed, former general manager Abu Taher Md Nuruzzaman Chowdhury and Deputy General Manager AKM Khademul Islam.

Public Prosecutor Advocate M Aminur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
The same court on Tuesday issued warrants for the arrest of 23 accused, including seven former managing directors of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company, after accepting the charge sheet submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission in the case.
The court also exempted five other accused as they were not found involved in the scam.
Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Manager Anisur Rahman filed a case against 19 officials with Parbatipur police station on July 24, 2018 in connection with the disappearance of 1.44 lakh tonnes of coal from the mine.
The case was later transferred to the Anti-Corruption Commission.
On July 24, the Anti-Corruption Commission submitted the charge sheet against 23 people in the case.
