15kg gold seized at Chattogram airport
Customs officials have recovered 130 gold bars, weighing more than 15 kg, from a passenger hidden inside a charger light at the Shah Amanat International Airport, Chattogram today.
The passenger, named Jaynal Abedin, was travelling from Sharjah, United Arab Emirate to Chattogram in a flight of Air Arabia.
"The Air Arabia flight arrived from Sharjah at 9 am. We searched the baggage of the passenger and found the gold bars inside a charger light. The market value of the seized gold is approximately Tk6 crore," said Riadul Islam, deputy commissioner of Airport and Airfreight department of Chattogram Customs.
We are preparing legal steps against the passenger according to customs law, he added.
