BRICM claims developing Covid-19 killing nasal spray
The BRICM came up with the claim at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Science and Technology at the parliament building on Tuesday
The Bangladesh Reference Institute for Chemical Measurements (BRICM), a state-run organisation, has claimed to have invented a nasal spray that kills coronavirus in the upper respiratory tract.
The BRICM came up with the claim at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Science and Technology at the parliament building on Tuesday, said a release from the Parliament Secretariat.
Iqbalur Rahim, a member of the parliamentary standing committee who attended the meeting, said the committee acknowledged the invention and recommended its clinical trial.

The committee also recommended taking ethical approval from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council for starting the clinical trial.
The coronavirus enters the human body through mouth, eyes and nose and stays in these organs for a while. If the nasal solution is sprayed within 3-4 hours, it can deactivate the virus in the nose, nasal cavity, oral cavity and those at the joint of respiratory digestive tracts, said Iqbalur.
"We hope it will be a great solution to Covid-19," he said.
Professor Nazrul Islam, noted virologist and member of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19, said there were discussions in some countries over the invention of coronavirus resistant nasal sprays. But he does not know about any such invention.
"I have not heard a coronavirus resistant nasal spray has been invented. Those who have done it should publish a detailed report. Things will not work without publishing a research report," he added.
