Taposh vows to make Dhaka a modern city
The DSCC mayor made the remark while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Motijheel Park
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has vowed that he would try to turn Dhaka into a modern city.
He made the remark while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Motijheel Park in the capital as the chief guest on Wednesday.
"We will present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a modern Dhaka by 2041. To fulfil this vision, we will build the city as an aesthetic one," he said.

The DSCC mayor said, "We have undertaken various initiatives to turn Dhaka into a modern city. The concept of modern Bangladesh is not just a dream now. Rather, it is a reality."
"In 2021, we can be proud that we have implemented the vision of Digital Bangladesh under the prudent leadership of Sheikh Hasina," Taposh added.
Md Mojammel Haque, ward 9 councillor of DSCC, presided over the programme, while freedom fighter Abu Ahmed Mannafi, and Minu Rahman, reserved councillor of DSCC ward 3, were present as special guests.
Before joining the event, the DSCC mayor visited the capital's Jirani canal and said, "Various initiatives are now underway to free Dhaka's canals from encroachers. If we can ensure free water flow in these canals, there will be a respite from waterlogging in the city."
"We want to clean the Dhaka canals and to free these from grabbers by March next, and this will be implemented with our own fund," Taposh said.
He added that the DSCC would need Tk100 crore to implement infrastructural development and Tk20-25 crore for removal of waste from these canals.
