Roach: It is going to be tough but I am up for the fight

Windies had a terrible ODI series against Bangladesh with a weakened side. They will be desperate to fight back in the Test series and to earn some points from the tour. Windies fast bowler Kemar Roach mentioned that the series will be a tough challenge for them but he along with his teammates are up for the fight. 

The fast bowler made his debut against Bangladesh back in 2009 in a kind of similar situation. The senior cricketers backed off and a bunch of new faces came in. Roach did cement his place through performance and hard work. 

Pitches usually favour spinners in Bangladesh. The job is always tough for the pacers. Kemar Roach knows exactly what to expect from these pitches and raring to throw challenges toward the Bangladeshi batsmen. 

"It is hard work for fast bowlers out there. The pitches aren't conducive to speed or any seam movement. It is all about being consistent and putting the ball in the right areas. It is a pretty straight length, challenging the batsmen on the front foot. That's mainly what your best chances are, to succeed in Bangladesh. Working on the ball as hard as we can, trying to get the ball to reverse as early as you can to trouble the Bangladesh middle order," said Roach during the press brief on Tuesday. 

"It is going to be tough, as we know we have to bowl a lot more overs to get our rewards. Once we are willing to put the work in, we can get the rewards. It is going to be tough but I am up for the fight," a confident Roach added. 

Roach also talked about his pace bowling partner, Alzarri Joesph, who's having a great time in white-ball cricket but he believes Joseph will do as good in Test cricket as well. 

"His ODI career has been going pretty well. He is in the ICC's ODI team of the year. It is a good achievement. I know he'd love to get some more wickets under his belt, probably get that first five-wicket haul in Tests. It is a learning curve and it is only a stepping stone for him. He has to work hard and believe in himself, listen to the people around you and take what will help your game, and just try to keep improving. I am sure one-day Alzarri will take the mantle."

Roach when asked about his team's plans against Bangladeshi batsmen, said: "Their main batters that get the job done, we know them pretty well now. It is about us executing the plans that we set in a team meeting. I can't really say much more."

"We have to be positive and execute our plans the best as we can. Bangladesh is always a tough tour. The guys are working hard for three weeks. We know what we have to do to put on a good score on the board, and take 20 wickets in the match. It is about going out there and giving it our best shot, and put in a good show," Roach concluded.
