Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam has urged the producers, directors and artists to present activities of the police force in an artistic way.
"Portray the activities of the police in the films in an artistic way so that it does not create any negative impression in people's mind about the force. Refrain from presenting anything violent or unrealistic. Such issues defile the society," said the DMP boss.
He was addressing a view exchange programme with the film producers, directors and artists at the DMP headquarters on Wednesday.
Regarding the viral video of Nabab LLB, the commissioner said the way of presenting the activities of police in the clip was not realistic.
He expressed apprehension over the possible negative impact on the women, saying they will be discouraged to go to the police stations if they see the activities of the police in the video.
In last December, a web film – Nabab LLB – came into discussion as it had allegedly portrayed the police force in a disgraceful manner.
Later, Producer of the film Anonno Mamun and its actor Shaheen Mridha were arrested from capital's Mirpur in a case filed with Ramna Police Station under the Pornography Act, over 'obscene dialogues' in the movie.
Shariful Islam, the deputy commissioner of the Cyber and Special Crimes Department, referred to some scenes of the movie as very defamatory for the Bangladesh Police Force because Bangladesh police were portrayed in a very negative way.
Actress Orchita Sporshia was also accused in that case initially. Later she was relieved from all charges.
