Police have filed an attempt to murder case against seven protesters who were picked up from processions in the Shahbag area over the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in jail custody.
The accused are Amjin Haider, 22, Najib Amin Chowdhury, 27, Tanzimur Rahman, 22, Akib Ahmed, 22, Arafat, 26, Nazifa Jannat, 24, and Jayati Chakraborty, 23, reports Jugantor.
The case was filed with Shahbag Police Station on Friday midnight as the protesters "attempted to murder" the on-duty police personnel, said Mahbub Alam, inspector (operation) of the police station.
Police also sought remand of the seven accused, the inspector added.
Earlier on Friday evening, at least 35 people were injured as the activists of left-leaning organisations and student bodies clashed with cops during a protest in Dhaka University area over the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in Kashimpur jail.
Twenty of the injured people are protesters.
