“JK 1971” is based on the real-life incident that occurred on 3 December, 1971, when a French citizen named Jean Kay hijacked a Pakistan International Airlines plane in support of the people of Bangladesh
Kolkata's legendary actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty is back in the field to work with the filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan in a historic film called "JK 1971".
Previously, they had amassed appreciation with their film "Gondi".
Fakhrul Arefeen Khan released the poster for "JK 1971" at a press conference in the capital on 9 March, reports Bangla Tribune.
"JK 1971" is based on the real-life incident that occurred on 3 December, 1971, when a French citizen named Jean Kay hijacked a Pakistan International Airlines plane in support of the people of Bangladesh in their struggle for independence at the Orly Airport in Paris."
Sabyasachi Chakraborty plays the role of the pilot while 'Zulfiqar' famed actor Shuvro Sourav Das will do the role of Jean Kay.
Fakhrul Arefeen Khan said he took the initiative to make the film as a special gift on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu. The shooting of the movie will start from April in Durgapur and Kolkata.
The film will be released on 3 December of this year.
Fakhrul said, "There are many topics related to the Liberation War for filmmaking, but it seems to me that this particular subject is completely different and one of the most neglected events of that time. But it has the potential to be a great film."
He also said, "I would like to break the silence of 50 years that I have witnessed over this incident. The fact that the hijacking was considered a so-called crime and Jean Kay is still not recognised as a friend of Bangladesh for his contribution towards the liberation war 1971 has moved me emotionally."
"JK 1971" has only one song and its screenplay has been written by Masum Reza. The song was written and sung in English by Nasim Ali Khan of the band "Souls". Other than that, Pertha Barua was in charge of production of music for this film.
