Bangladesh Blue clinch 9th Bangladesh Games title
Blue bowlers ran riots as they did not leave any breathing space for the Green batters. Jahanara Alam was brutal in particular, so was Mumta Hena.
Bangladesh Blue Women have thumped Bangladesh Green Women by eight wickets in the final of the 9th Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games and become the gold medalist of the cricket event at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Friday.
Put in to bat, Bangladesh Women Green never got going. They lost wickets at regular intervals and couldn't build a substantial partnership. Eight of the batters couldn't go past 10 runs. Ritu Moni top-scored with 18 off 39 balls. Bangladesh Green Women were bundled out for a paltry 72 with 14 overs still left.
Blue bowlers ran riots as they did not leave any breathing space for the Green batters. Jahanara Alam was brutal in particular, so was Mumta Hena. They returned identical figures of three for 15. Veteran all-rounder Salma Khatun picked up two wickets and Rabeya Khan claimed one.
In reply, Bangladesh Blue Women cruised to the target in only 18 overs, losing only two wickets. Wicketkeeper Shamima Sultana, opening the innings, played a stroke-filled knock of 31. Though she got out, Fargana Hoque who came in at three, remained unbeaten on 28 off 32 and saw her team home.
