Yuvraj not happy with the selectors after Bangladesh loss
The former star felt the panel lacked the creativity to run things in modern-day cricket
Indias lost to Bangladesh in the T20I series opener is making the BCCI take a lot of heat. Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is the latest in a long line of people who criticized the National selection panel.
Singh strongly criticized the Indian selectors after the loss against Bangladesh. The former star felt the panel lacked the creativity to run things in modern-day cricket, "It's a difficult job (selection) but their thinking in terms of modern-day cricket is not up to the mark.
"It's my opinion. I am always in favour of protecting the players and being positive about them. Talking negatively about your players and team doesn't show you in a good light. The character only shows when things are going wrong and you motivate the players. In bad times, everyone talks bad. We definitely need better selectors," he said.

Singh was in Abu Dhabi to take take part in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League. When asked about Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube being compared to him and whether should he be given a longer-run, Singh was optimistic but he had his reservations for the batting coach, "Let the guy start his career first, and after a while when he reaches a certain level, then you start comparing him with someone. I don't think he should be compared to me. He should make his own name. He has talent.
"There are a couple of things that need to work on his game. I am not sure if they will be able to identify where he is making the mistakes. Vikram Rathour is the batting coach, he needs to identify where he is making a mistake.
"He (Rathour) is not someone who has played T20s, so I am not sure if he can tell what are the areas that he needs to work on. Give him some time and then expect results. Don't expect results instantly." said Singh.
The southpaw's criticism of national selectors for messing up the No. 4 batting slot for the 50-over World Cup is well documented. Yuvraj hopes India's preparations for the T20 World Cup next year are handled better.
"The preparation for next year's World T20 should start now. You decide your team four months before the World Cup. You have to decide on your 20 players from which 16 will be picked. You can't shuffle, pick and drop players at the last moment. World Cup is a serious tournament," he said.
