One accused in Ayesha Moni rape and murder case
The Police Bureau of Investigation submitted the charge sheet to the General Recording Section of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Thursday
The Police Bureau of Investigation have filed charge sheet in a case filed over the rape and subsequent murder of 2-year-old girl Ayesha Moni.
Deputy Sub-inspector of the investigation bureau Sadekur Rahman submitted the charge sheet to the General Recording Section of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court against Jannatul Wahid alias Nahid on Thursday afternoon.
General Record officer of the court, Sub-Inspector Shariful Islam said, "The charge sheet will be submitted to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Hossain on November 21."
Ayesha Moni, was living with her parents and sisters at a slum at Dinnath Sen Road under Gendaria police station in Dhaka. Ayesha used to play in the alley in front of Gendaria's Sadhana Aushadhalaya.
On January 5 this year, she was playing alone there in the afternoon as her parents were at their workplaces. In the evening, local people found Ayesha's injured blood-ridden body in front of a three-storey building in the area.
She was rushed to the National Medical College Hospital. From there, Ayesha was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Ayesha's parents alleged that Nahid, 45, owner of the house, raped and then killed the minor girl by throwing her off the second floor of the building,
On January 7, the victim's father filed a case with Gandaria police station accusing Nahid and his brother Liton, 50, over Ayesha's death.
Later, police arrested Nahid who is now in jail.
