Only 5-10% people showed movement pass so far: Police
Around 5-10 percent people, who came out of their homes on the first day of strict lockdown, could produce "movement pass" at the check posts in the capital today.
The scenario was same at the check points at Dhanmondi 27, Russell Square, Kalabagan, Science Lab intersection, Bata Signal, Bangla Motor and Shahbagh areas.
On duty police officials said, most of the people are showing cause of medical emergencies. Only 5-10% people produced movement pass.
Many could not register for the pass due to technical problem.
Police started issuing "movement pass" to people based on their needs amid the lockdown from Wednesday.
More than 2.78 crore attempts to get movement pass so far till Wednesday noon, according to data from Police Headquarters.
People can obtain the pass through by visiting: movementpass.police.gov.bd.
The government imposed a strict 7-day nationwide lockdown from 14-21 April.
Coronavirus cases in the country have been surging steeply from the second week of March taking the tally to 697,985. The death toll from the dreaded virus here now stands at 9,891.
