'Students, teachers of Qawmi Madrasas will not be involved in politics'
Al-Hayatul Ulaya Lil-Jami'atil Qawmia Bangladesh also called on the government to release those Qawmi Madrasa students, teachers, Alem-Ulamas, pious Muslims and Imams of mosques who were arrested, taking into consideration that it is the holy month of Ramadan
Students and teachers of Qawmi Madrasas will remain out of all kinds of politics prevailing in the country.
Al-Hayatul Ulaya Lil-Jami'atil Qawmia Bangladesh, under which Qawmi Madrasas' highest level of exam -- Dawra-e-Hadith -- is held, has come up with the decision today at a standing committee meeting at Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom Madania Madrasa in Jatrabari today.
The meeting also decided to send a three-member delegation to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to inform him about its decision. The delegation will include Maulana Mufti Ruhul Amin, Maulana Mufti Mohammad Ali, and Maulana Mufti Jasimuddin.
The daily Prothom Alo published a news report on the latest decision of Qawmi Madrasas, quoting Mufti Faizullah, a member of Al-Hayatul Ulaya, who was present at today's meeting.
Issuing a press statement, the meeting also called on the government to release those Qawmi Madrasa students, teachers, Alem-Ulamas, pious Muslims and Imams of mosques who were arrested, taking into consideration that it is the holy month of Ramadan.
There were also "special" requests not to harass "innocent" preachers, madrasa students, and devout Muslims.
The Standing Committee has made a special request to the government to open the Hifz and Maktab departments in Ramadan and to allow Qawmi Madrasas to resume their educational programs after Ramadan.
It was decided at the meeting that only Al-Hayatul Ulaya would take all the decisions and steps related to Qawmi Madrasas.
Any subordinate board or organization or individual cannot take any decision or action or initiative regarding Qawmi Madrasas separately, without the decision of Al-Hayatul Ulaya, the statement added.
A 15-member implementation sub-committee consisting of five members from five boards under Al-Hayatul Ulaya, five from Befaqul Madarisil Arabia and five nominated by the chairman, will be formed to implement the decisions of Al-Hayatul Ulaya and to take and oversee all decisions related to Qawmi Madrasas.
