BSMMU to set up 20,000L oxygen tank
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University will set up a 20,000-litre capacity vacuum insulated evaporator (liquid oxygen tank) to ensure sufficient oxygen for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
BSMMU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed gave the instruction for setting up the facility while inspecting the university campus on Tuesday.
He said adequate oxygen supply for the treatment of patients infected with Covid-19 should be ensured in advance.
"Hopefully, there will be no oxygen crisis for Covid patients undergoing treatment at BSMMU. The amount of liquid oxygen will be increased from 5,000 litres to 25,000 litres," he added.
The VC noted that the government's decision to close borders with India was timely to bar entry of double mutant variant coronavirus.
