Magic Razik: An engineer by profession and a magician by passion
Magic Razik is an Australian-Bangladeshi Magician, who was catapulted into the limelight on TikTok for displaying his skills as a mentalist
Before you get confused, No, Magic Razik has no relationship with 'Magic Mamoni', the item song starring Mahia Mahi.
Magic Razik is an Australian-Bangladeshi Magician, who was catapulted into the limelight on TikTok for displaying his skills as a mentalist, a form of magic that uses cognitive ability to deceive the audience.
He not only performs for the netizens but also physically on stage. Currently, holding 175.2K followers on TikTok, the 28-year-old performer hopes to stun people with many more of his tricks and treats of magic.
But how did he come up with this name?
"When I began performing at theatres, I chose the name Magic Razik for the same reasons. I did not want to reveal my real name while being a magician and at the same time I wanted to have an easy yet interesting stage name for my audience."
Interestingly, Magic Razik is also an engineer who started practising magic as a hobby. But now he values both the same. His performances on international stages such as those in the USA, Australia, Turkey etc., motivated him to work harder and also strengthened his desire to continue working as a magician.
Surely, Razik has some terrific skills to surprise people and make them blink twice to see what happened. But what was his source of knowledge about illusions?
Razik responded, "It started when I was just a kid. My father used to bring different sorts of tools to show simple magic tricks. Not only that, my father used to learn various magic tricks when he used to travel outside for business purposes because he knew showing magic gave me immense joy. As a result, I ended up having a big collection of magic tools and tricks."
"From that age, I began performing in front of my relatives and friends, which might have boosted my confidence and made me realise that I love to entertain people with magic," he added.
His enthusiasm for this specific entertainment genre prompted me to ask if it was always his intention to establish himself as a magician/mentalist on the internet.
"Yes, as I mentioned before I was interested in learning different tactics of magic along with mentalism from the very beginning of my journey on the internet. I was actually quite late in the social media game and also very young to understand how powerful it was. But eventually I learned that it is a great place to reach out to people and showcase one's talent so I jumped in as well."
So far he has established himself as a popular TikToker and is trying to diversify into other social media platforms to better showcase his skills.
"I saw other influencers being active specifically on a single social media platform but I am trying my best to make people aware of my presence in different platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc," Razik explained.
Over time we have seen people growing out of Facebook and Youtube and pay attention to TikTokers for their ridiculous, over-the-top and exaggerated content. Razik gave us quite a diplomatic answer about that.
"I think it depends on the person and how he utilises that platform. It is like having a knife. You can use it to cut fruits or vegetables, but it can also be used to kill someone. So at the end of the day, I do not care if people's perceptions are negative, as long as I know that the content I share is positive."
As a magician, Magic Razik had many noteworthy experiences that he will cherish forever. He shared a few of them.
"There are few remarkable experiences I remember fondly. The first is when I got the opportunity to show off my tricks in an Australian TV show called 'Take Me Out' and the other is when I had the opportunity to perform at the iconic Bangladeshi show hosted by Hanif Sangket, 'Ittadi'. In Ittadi I had the craziest experience of performing in front of 50 thousand people including those watching my performance from the trees as well."
Magic Razik has spent a significant time of his life in Australia and loves to travel around the world to gain new experiences. Nonetheless, he told us the warmth he feels among Bangladeshi people is extraordinary.
"Abroad, I used to perform at The Magician's Cabernet every weekend. It was fun but at the same time, it was very professional. But in the case of Bangladesh, the crowd is always bigger hence it is impossible to communicate with everyone. But people here are warm and respectful. They always tend to wish me, share good thoughts and encourage me with love."
Apart from his followers, his family has always been his support system. For that, he managed to keep a good balance between his studies and his passion to become a magician. However, he wants to achieve more and has the grand vision of developing the magic industry in Bangladesh.
"In the past, we have seen legends like Jewel Aich providing immense joy to the people by entertaining them with magic. But the magic community did not move ahead anymore. I felt they were a bit secretive and did not want anyone to learn their tricks. But I want to share everything I have learned and it feels great when I see people aspiring to be a magician inspired by me"
