Bangladeshis in New York demonstrate against killing of Palestinians
Immigrant Bangladeshis in New York demonstrated against Israeli airstrikes killing innocent Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Civil Society New York, an organisation of Bangladeshis in New York, organised the demonstration, protesting the continuous airstrikes by the Israeli military and the murder of children and Palestinian civilians. They also condemned the attacks on Israelis by Hamas, a pro-independence organisation in Palestine.
Representatives from Muktadhara Foundation, the US branch of Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Udichi United Branch, Ganajagaran Mancha, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Progressive Forum, and other political, social, and cultural personalities participated in the protest at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights on the evening of 19 May.
Speakers at the protest urged US President Joe Biden, the United Nations, and international communities to end the ongoing airstrikes and usher in a peaceful environment in both Palestine and Israel.
At least 250 Palestinians including 70 children have so far died in the ongoing Israeli bombing of Gaza. Hamas, in response, has launched rocket attacks on Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden faces global criticism for supplying arms to Israel despite the murder of dozens of Palestinian children.
