Labour leaders demand their representation in upcoming budget formulation
They also demanded that workers get priority in the vaccination programme
The young leaders of the National Federation of Trade Unions (NFTUs) have demanded the inclusion of workers' representatives in the budget planning and policy making process for the fiscal year 2021-22.
They also demanded an increased allocation in the budget for generating employments for young workers, said a press release.
They made the demand at a human chain in front of the National Press Club on 31 May.

The NFTUs leaders organised the programme in collaboration with the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS).
According to them, the government consults with representatives of the Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Employers' Federation and numerous chambers before proposing the national budget every year.
But it does not consider the views of the country's major driving force -- the workers.
The speakers at the programme suggested a budget that is not only dependent on the economic growth but also on job creations.
They also demanded that workers get priority in the vaccination programme.
Abdul Halim, convener of Bangaldesh Jatiya Sramik League, chaired the event.
