10 arrested from Satkhira border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 10 people from the Kakdanga, Taiulgachha, and Madra areas on the Satkhira border, including a Rohingya man, while they were trying to return to the country illegally from India on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested are Momin Sardar, 25, Atiqul Islam, 27, Shahjahan Biswas, 37, his wife Arifa Begum, 22, Abir Ali, 16, Asif, 14, Mahbub Sheikh, 25, Kurchina Begum, 32, Moriam Begum, 35, and the Rohingya man, Md Rafiq, 41.
Commanding officer of Satkhira BGB-33 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Al Mahmud, said they arrested them when entering the country from India illegally.
All of them were taken to Ahsania Mission in Kaliganj upazila for a 14-day quarantine under supervision of the deputy commissioner to avoid risk of contracting the Indian Covid-19 variant.
Legal action will be taken against them after they complete the quarantine period, the official added.
