Govt urges global organisations to ensure fundamental rights for Rohingyas
80,000 more Rohingyas to be shifted to Bhashan Char soon
International organisations including the UNHCR should play a more active role in ensuring all inhabitable arrangements and fundamental rights for displaced Rohingya people, Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus said at a meeting with foreign envoys and heads of delegations of various international agencies on Sunday.
While presiding over the meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office to discuss the Rohingya issue, Ahmad Kaikaus said the government has taken initiative to shift more 80,000 Rohingya people staying at various camps in Cox's Bazar to Bhashanchar within the shortest possible time.
"More than 18,000 Rohingyas have already been taken to Bhashanchar, while process is on to shift the remaining Rohingyas soon," he added.

Ahmad Kaikaus said the government is doing everything possible to ensure all basic needs of the Rohingyas, including better livable places for them.
PMO Secretary Tofazzal Hossain Miah and secretaries concerned attended the meeting.
Ambassadors and high commissioners of various countries including USA, UK, Japan, Australia, France, Canada and Netherlands as well as heads of delegations of international organisations like European Union and UNHCR joined the meeting.
