Anti-Terrorism Unit arrest 4 ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ members
Police have arrested them before executing their sabotage plan, SP Md Aslam Khan says
The Anti-Terrorism Unit of Bangladesh Police arrested four members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from the Rayerbag area in the capital on Wednesday.
The arrestees are Raihan Hossen alias Sabbir Hossen, Raihan alias Al Rabbi, Aminul Islam, Sagor Islam alias Yusuf bin Abdur Rakib.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Aslam Khan of the ATU headquarters (Media & Awareness), at a press briefing, said a team of ATU has been watching the activities of the arrested members of ABT through Cyber patrolling for six months.
They had been running a campaign to establish "Gazwatul Hind" and had been conducting anti-state and anti-government activity through social media. Launching a secret group, they used to exchange texts for training and preparation for executing a sabotage plan, he added.
Police have arrested them before executing their sabotage plan, said Aslam, adding, ''We will seek remand for the arrestees to interrogate them to identify the group's remaining members.''
