133 die from dengue in 2019: IEDCR
Presently, 301 dengue infected patients are undergoing treatment at different government and private hospitals
The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has confirmed four more deaths from dengue. With this, the death toll has risen to 133 in 2019, Dr Ayesha Akhtar, assistant director of Emergency Service and Control Room of the Health Department, told The Business Standard on Monday.
The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research has so far reviewed 211 deaths and confirmed that 133 died of dengue, the DGHS informed. IEDCR has received information about 264 deaths.
According to DGHS, a total of 67 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am Monday.
Presently, 301 dengue infected patients are undergoing treatment at different government and private hospitals. One lakh seven hundred forty-two patients have been hospitalised with dengue this year so far. Among them, one lakh one hundred seventy-seven people have returned home after getting treatment, said the DGHS.
In Bangladesh, dengue infection was first identified in 2000 when at least 93 people died and 5,551 were hospitalised.
