The High Court on Tuesday ordered former Farmers Bank's managing director (audit) Mahbul Alam Babul Chisti's wife and daughter to surrender in two separate cases over acquiring illegal assets and money laundering.
Babul's wife Rozi Chishti and daughter Rimi Chishti have been asked to surrender before the trial court within two weeks.
A High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Rashed Jahangir issued the order after a hearing of the anticipatory bail petition.
Senior lawyer Abdul Matin Khashru stood for the petitioners, while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the Anti-Corruption Commission.
On December 15, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Mohammad Faysal filed a case against Babul Chisti and his wife for allegedly acquiring assets worth Tk37.38 crore beyond known income.
On the same day, Faysal filed another case against Babul Chisti and his daughter for acquiring assets beyond known income and laundering of Tk21.20 crore.
Rozi Chishti and Rimi Chishti appealed for anticipatory bail over the cases. Both the cases are under trial in a Dhaka court.
