T-20s to celebrate Golden Jubilee of Independence
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to organize two T-20 International friendlies between World XI and Asia XI to mark the country’s golden jubilee of independence and 100th birthday celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said BCB sources on Thursday.
“On 19 and 20 May, 2020, we will arrange two friendly matches,’’ BCB president Nazmul Hasan told reporters at the International Mother Language Institute on Thursday.
The venue and the participants are yet to be confirmed.
“We have made the proposal and sent it so that we can get the best of the players in the two friendly T-20’s scheduled to be played between World XI and Asia XI,’’ a top BCB official said on Thursday.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan earlier stated that the board has plans to mark the occasion by organizing an international event.
“Next year, the country will observe the 100th birthday anniversary of Bangabandhu and the 50-year of the Independence Day. We are trying to do something which can draw the attention of the world,’’ Nazmul Hasan told reporters at the BCB headquarters last month.
BCB hosted a tri-series between Bangladesh, India and Pakistan to commemorate the silver jubilee of independence in 1998.
