Cox’s Bazar gang-rape: Conflicting statements by law enforcers unfortunate: HC
The High Court (HC) has said conflicting statements by different law enforcement agencies on Cox's Bazar gang-rape were "unfortunate and undesirable".
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman made the observation on Tuesday while hearing a writ petition seeking a judicial probe to inquire the gang-rape of a tourist in Cox's Bazar in December last year.
During Tuesday's hearing, the court said several law enforcement agencies may cooperate for the sake of the investigation, but it is better to talk less about an ongoing investigation before the media.

"If the media is provided with different versions of the incident, people may speculate even if the real facts are revealed later," said the court postponing the hearing of the writ.
Referring to a previous order about formulating a guideline on media briefing during an investigation, the HC Tuesday asked the authorities again for it.
On December 22, three men raped the tourist while their cohorts took her husband and child hostage. The woman, her husband, and their eight-month-old child went to Cox's Bazar on holiday from the capital, according to the case documents.
A total of four persons have been arrested so far in connection with the case. According to law enforcers, two more accused are on the run.
Seven people have been made accused in the case.
