21 named for Ekushey Padak 2020

The government has announced names of 20 eminent citizens and an organisation for awarding country's second-highest civilian award "Ekushey Padak" for 2020 for their contribution in respective fields.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the Ekushey Padak to the recipients at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on February 20.
Aminul Islam Badsha (posthumous) won the award for Language Movement; Begum Dalia Nowshin, Shangkar Roy and Mita Haque for music; Golam Mostafa Khan for dance; Dr. Farida Zaman for art; Haji Aktar Sardar (posthumous) and Dr AAM Mesbahul Haque and Abdul Jabbar for Liberation War; Zafar Wazed for journalism; Dr Jahangir Alam and Allama Syed Mohammad Saifur Rahman for research; Professor Dr Bikiron Prasad Barua for education; Professor Dr Shamsul Alam for economics; Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman for social welfare; Dr Nurun Nabi, Sikder Aminul Haque (posthumous) and Nazmun Nesa Peyari for language and literature; Professor Dr Sayeba Akhtar for medicine and as an organisation Bangladesh Fish Research Institute will be awarded the prestigious award for research.
