Police free Nayapaltan road partially
Police partially opened the Nayapaltan-Kakrail road around eight hours after they put up barricades on the roads in front of the party's central office in Nayapaltan following a clash with BNP men.
"Police removed the barricade partially after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was done collecting evidence and investigating the crime scene this evening," said Biplob Kumar Sarker, joint commissioner (operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
He also added that there has been no presence of BNP men on the road at present.
BNP leaders and activists have been gathering in front of their party office in Nayapaltan since Wednesday.
The clashes ensued as the police tried to disperse the BNP men for entering the area defying the barricades.
Law enforcers in armoured vehicles were deployed in the areas surrounding Nayapaltan, while no vehicles were seen in front of the party office on Thursday morning.
No one is being allowed to enter the area without an ID as police set up barricades at the Nightingale intersection in Bijoynagar and Fakirapool crossings.
Earlier today, the law enforcers stopped BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from entering the political party's central office.
