Govt locks down Laxmipur over coronavirus
The lockdown will be effective from Wednesday, said the district's deputy commissioner
The government has declared a lockdown in Laxmipur district amid nationwide steps to contain the spread of highly contagious disease Covid-19.
The district Deputy Commissioner Anjan Chandra Paul told The Business Standard on Tuesday night.
Under the initiative, all shops except the medicine stores will remain closed. The movement of vehicles will also be available on a limited scale.
The lockdown will be effective from Wednesday, he added.
Bangladesh confirmed the fourth death from the novel coronavirus and six new cases in last 24 hours in the country on Tuesday.
IEDCR confirmed first death from coronavirus infection on March 18, second death on March 21 and third death on March 23. The total number of infected patients is now 39 in the country.
