Patient with virus-like symptoms dies in Khulna
He underwent surgery at a private hospital in Dhaka where one died from Covid-19 attack
A patient on Thursday noon died in Khulna Medical College and Hospital with coronavirus-like symptoms.
Doctors suspected the patients could have died from novel coronavirus attack as he developed fever and breathing complications.
Hospital sources said, the deceased was a Khulna city resident. He underwent a thyroid surgery at a private hospital in Dhaka recently, where a patient died from Covid-19.
A doctor of the Dhaka hospital also got infected with the virus.
The Khulna resident left the Dhaka hospital followed by the incident. Though he was asked to stay under self-isolation, he travelled to Khulna and got admitted to the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) hiding his medical history.
Resident medical officer of the KMCH Dr Sailendranath Biswas told the media that the person got admitted to the KMCH surgery ward early Thursday. He started to show coronavirus-like symptoms on Thursday morning.
"We guessed those are after surgery effects. However, we later came to know that he was admitted in Dhaka hospital where a patient died from Covid-19. He concealed that information," said the physician.
The body has been kept at KMCH morgue, said Dr Biswas.
He said, "We have notified the IEDCR Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research. They will decide the next course of action."
