Fakhrul’s statement on coronavirus an ‘inconsistent delusion’: Quader
He asked the BNP leader not to create a divide among people at this crisis moment
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the statement of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir over the COVID-19 is 'an inconsistent delusion' of a failed politician.
"When a responsible political personality like Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made an irresponsible and nonsense statement in the time of a global crisis created due to coronavirus pandemic, the nation gets frustrated," he told a press conference in the capital this afternoon.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said when the entire world stands on the same platform to fight coronavirus together, such comment of Fakhrul misleads the country's people.
Claiming that Mirza Fakhrul is trying to mislead the nation by presenting false information, he asked the BNP leader not to create a divide among people at this crisis moment.
The AL general secretary urged the AL leaders and workers to make the country's people aware of COVID-19 following the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
At the beginning of coronavirus outbreak in the country, he said, the Sheikh Hasina-led government prepared a guideline to fight COVID-19 and it is now working sincerely involving the commoners to prevent the deadly virus.
Quader said the prime minister delivered her speech before the nation on March 25, presenting her government's programmes and work plans to tackle coronavirus.
He said if Mirza Fakhrul would give a proposal following the programmes taken by the government, it would be an optimistic one for the nation. "But he (Fakhrul) did not do so," he added.
