The PHP Family chairman gave his Ekushey Padak money to Chattogram Medical College Hospital and donated 500 PPE suits to the hospital
PHP Family – one of the top industrial groups in Chattogram – has been standing beside poor and low-income people suffering due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
It has distributed relief among more than 10,000 families in greater Chattogram, since April 1. Relief items – rice, salt, edible oil, lentils, and potatoes – were distributed in different areas with the help of public representatives, PHP Family officials said.
Additionally, PHP Family Chairman Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman has donated Tk2 crore to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to address the disaster.
Further, Sufi Mizanur Rahman – who received the Ekushey Padak for his outstanding contribution to social service – handed over the money he received with the award to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) director to treat Covid-19 patients.
Moreover, 500 personal protection equipment (PPE) suits have been donated to ensure the safety of doctors of the hospital, the officials added.
Sufi Mizanur Rahman urged all to, "Work in their own ways to combat the Covid-19 pandemic and stand beside helpless people."
Under the supervision of PHP Automobiles Managing Director Akhtar Parvez, the packaging of relief items was done at a Proton car factory in the port city's Sagorika area.
Akhtar Parvez said, "We transformed the closed car factory into a warehouse of relief items to stand beside the helpless during the Covid-19 pandemic. Such activities will continue in the future."
Dilshad Ahmed, a spokesman for the PHP family, said the Sufi Mizanur Rahman Foundation provides regular assistance to the disadvantaged.
