ACC sued UP member for misappropriation of OMS card
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed a case against a Union Parshad (UP) member of Nawabganj upazilla of Dhaka for accused of taking money for distributing Open Market Sell (OMS) card for Tk10 per kg rice.
ACC Assistant Director Abdul Wadud filed the case against him on Monday.
ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Sekandar Miah, member of ward No 1 of Noyonsree UP under the upazila misused his power and hampered the government's poor friendly programme.
Israt Jahan, food controller of Nawabganj upazilla filed a general diary against Sekandar Miah after finishing enquiry against him.
During enquiry, ACC found proof of collecting money by the UP member. He took money from 500 to 2000 poor or under privileged people for giving OMS cards amid the coronavirus outbreak. Thus, after the enquiry ACC filed the case.
