Eminent medicine specialist Dr Ridwanur Rahman dies
Eminent medicine specialist Professor Dr Ridwanur Rahman died on Wednesday (25 October).
He was taken to Labaid Hospital at 10am this morning where doctors declared him dead.
He died of a myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, Dr Helal Uddin Ahmed, associate professor at the National Institute of Mental Health, confirmed the matter to the Business Standard.
Professor Dr Ridwanur Rahman was the former Head of the Department of Medicine at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
Dr Helal said, "Dr Ridwanur Rahman was not only a renowned medicine specialist, he was also a researcher. He has done a record number of researches on snake bite, malaria and non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh."
He will be buried in Chittagong.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Health Reporter's Forum expressed profound shock and sorrow over Dr Ridwanur's death.
