GP introduces 8 smart devices under IoT product line “alo”
Grameenphone (GP) has introduced its Internet of Things (IoT) product line with a dedicated app "alo" to offer smart solutions for several common problems in daily life.
At a city hotel yesterday, GP officials unveiled a total of eight products for users who prefer next-generation smart solutions in every step of their lifestyle.
Of them three are vehicle tracking products-- alo Vehicle Tracker Pro, alo Vehicle Tracker OBD, alo Vehicle Tracker; two for energy efficient modern life-- alo Remote Socket, alo Remote Switch; and three detector products for safer life-- alo Detector, alo Gas Detector and alo Smoke Detector.
GP officials said these products will ensure smart home, smart office, and smart transportation solutions under the umbrella of "alo" IoT solutions.
All these devices with internet connection and advanced features can be connected through one single app, ensuring maximum convenience for the users, the officials added.
GP Chief Business Officer Dr Asif Naimur Rashid and Chief Marketing Officer Mohammad Sajjad Hasib before the enthusiasts shared the details of how the IoT products would make users' lives easier.
For instance, smart sockets and switches will let a user switch on or off their electric or electronic products from anywhere with the help of the "alo" app.
A small device inside children's school bags will let the parents keep monitoring their exact live location.
Sensors of the gas and smoke detector device connected with the "alo" app will let one instantly learn if the house is at risk of fire.
GP targets a big market for its IoT products as the country already has had a great internet penetration and a large number of people are opting for a smart lifestyle.
"Looking at a future dominated by smart devices, AI and connectivity, we must realise that the time has come for us to embark on the journey of making our lives safer, healthier and happier with the help of connected technology," said GP CEO Yasir Azman.
"With boosted productivity, precise insights, and unparalleled efficiency – 'alo' shall help us write a new narrative of evolution," said Asif Naimur Rashid.
From 26 December, GP will start taking pre-orders for the new products to be used from the second half of January.
Users buying the devices will pay some monthly fees for the services from GP.
