Fake cosmetics of renowned brands worth Tk2 cr seized
The BSTI will strengthen such drives in the coming days
A mobile court of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has seized two trucks of counterfeit cosmetics products of renowned brands worth about Tk2 crore from the capital's Chawkbazar and Begumbazar areas.
During the drive led by BSTI Executive Magistrate Begum Rashida Akter, two businessmen –Md Anower Hossain, 35, and Md Nayon, 19 –have been sentenced to one year in jail, said a press release issued on Sunday.
They were engaged in trading fake cosmetics products, including hair oil, of well-known brands such as Parachute Coconut Oil, Parachute Beliphool, Kumarika Hair Oil, Dabur Vatika Amla, Nihar Amla, Nihar Naturals Amla, Joba Amla and some popular perfume products.
The BSTI will strengthen such drives in the coming days, read the release.
