Markets, shopping malls shut down in Tangail for defying health guidelines
Almost 90 percent of shoppers and shopkeepers have failed to maintain health guidelines, the administration said
Tangail district administration has announced the closure of markets and shopping malls of the district from Thursday after reopening for only four days.
The decision was taken as the shoppers and shopkeepers failed to maintain proper Covid-19 health and safety guidelines, said a public notice signed by Tangail District Magistrate Shahidul Islam on Wednesday.
However, grocery shops, kitchen markets and pharmacies will remain open as usual so that people can buy their daily essentials.
The district administration previously decided to reopen markets and shopping malls considering Eid-ul-Fitr, maintaining proper health guidelines during the Covid-19 shutdown.
But monitoring various markets for the last 4 days, the officials noticed that almost 90 percent of the shoppers and shopkeepers have failed to maintain social distancing and health guidelines to curb the spread of Covid-19.
So, the administration has decided to shut down markets and shopping malls of the district again considering public health.
