Sri Lanka set to host the Asia Cup
A day after the meeting, Shammi Silva claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed to SLC's proposal and ICC asked them to host the Asia Cup.
Pakistan was scheduled to host this year's Asia Cup. As India refused to tour Pakistan, there was a possibility of the United Arab Emirates hosting the tournament. But Sri Lanka Cricket's (SLC) Shammi Silva has recently informed that they are going to be the hosts.
He said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given them the go-ahead to host the tournament.
But a media release from Asian Cricket Council (ACC), after the executive committee meeting, stated that no decision was taken regarding the tournament's venue.
A day after the meeting, Shammi Silva claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed to SLC's proposal and ICC asked them to host the Asia Cup.
Silva told Ceylon Today, "We have spoken to the PCB officials. Pondering the current situation, they have agreed to our proposal. ICC has also given us the green signal to host the tournament in Sri Lanka."
The Covid-19 situation is relatively better in Sri Lanka among the sub-continental countries and cricketers have resumed practising recently.
