Free diesel supply for mobile network towers in Feni: Adviser Nahid
Md Nahid Islam, Adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, has directed providing free diesel for the generators of mobile operators in Feni to maintain the operation of mobile network towers.
He issued these instructions to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) today.
The adviser emphasised, "Due to power shortages, a significant amount of diesel is required to keep 78 mobile network towers operational in the flood-affected district. In the current situation, ensuring the continuous operation of these towers is crucial."
To address this, he has instructed the BTRC to secure the necessary diesel supply for the generators used by mobile operators in the district.
Portable generators (75 kVA) consume 2.3 litres of diesel per hour, while diesel generators (30 kVA) consume 4.4 litres per hour.
Based on these figures, the 78 generators collectively consume 6,552 liters of diesel daily, amounting to a cost of Tk714,168. Over a week, this consumption would total 45,864 litres of diesel, with an estimated cost of Tk4,999,176.
As per the adviser's directions, these costs will be covered by the BTRC fund.
